Post Doc positions in psychophysics/computational vision
Two (2) post doc positions (both one year with potential for extension) are
available at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, an affiliate of the
Harvard Medical School.
Available Immediately
A position in psychophysics and/or computational vision with an emphasis on
real world applications of spatial vision. Computer programming skills are
necessary and UNIX and C knowledge an advantage. A basic understanding of
systems analysis is needed, and formal training in this area and image
processing experience preferred. The post doc's time will be devoted to
participating in and expanding studies already in progress. These include:
simulation of normal and low vision, vision models for image quality
metrics, perception of contrast, sampling in the visual system, and image
enhancement for the visually impaired.
Available September, 1995
A position in psychophysics, eye movements, and binocular vision aspects of
reading with low vision. Studies include methods for the display of text
on electronic magnifiers for low vision observers, and vision issues with
head mounted displays. A solid research background in one of the aspects of
the research is necessary. Experience or training in reading research will
be a great advantage. Computer skills necessary and programming skills are
preferred. The post doc's time will be devoted to participating in and
expanding the scope of research on low vision reading with electronic
display and visual issues of head mounted displays for normal and low
vision (with an emphasis on binocular function).
In addition to participating in on-going research in the lab, both post
docs will be expected to develop an independent program of research within
the general scope of studies in the Image Analysis Lab or the Diagnosis And
Visual Aids Group.
Salary is commensurate with experience and generally based on NIH
fellowship levels.
