Hewlett Packard Laboratories is looking for a vision/computer
scientist to develop image analysis tools and metrics for the analysis
of image quality of data compression and halftoning algorithms, and
display and printing technologies. The major research activity for
this position involves the design and completion of psychophysical
experiments to investigate relationships between image quality metrics
and subjective image quality. Job responsibilities include the 1)
implementation of image processing algorithms and metrics, 2)
development of system software to generate, calibrate and control the
display of images, and 3) statistical data analysis of visual
judgements and metrics. Applicants should have a masters in Computer
Science, EE, or equivalent with expertise in 1) visual psychophysical
testing methods and experimental design, 2) statistical data analysis

*******Job 2********
Hewlett Packard Company is looking for a Image /Color Scientist
provide image and color science expertise for the tools and models
developed in the "PQ/Vision Technology" group. The primary focus of
the position is to 1) Develop models, techniques, metrics, and tools
for identifying important print and image quality
attributes. Understand and predict relationships between these
attributes and customer preferences. Assist other team members in the
development of the automated tools for measuring these attributes; 2)
implement color measurement capabilities; 3) Develop characterization
and calibration techniques for the machine vision tools; 4) Design,
develop, and implement human evaluation tools for use by the R&D
community. Correlate human evaluation tools and techniques to print
quality metrics from the machine vision tools. and 5) Collaborate
with other PQ projects on-site and off-site to establish standard
tools and methodology for evaluating PQ and ensure that results are
comparable among projects and among different sites and divisions.
Assist other groups in the HP organization to understand and properly
use PQ evaluation tools to make sound engineering decisions through
consultations, informal discussions, and/or structured classes and
presentations.
