Given that the net was used last week to deluge the research
community with inaccurate statements about NSF and given that the complete
text of all pending legislation is now available with a few keystokes from
Thomas (http://thomas.loc.gov/), I suggest it is time for an improvement of
the level of scholarship on the net. Specifically, I believe that no more
assertions about pending partisan actions should be sent out unless they
give an exact citation that will permit us to examine the putative
legislation directly.
