** THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF OPTOMETRY ANNOUNCES A
SEARCH FOR EDITOR OF OPTOMETRY AND VISION SCIENCE ***
Applications and nominations are invited to serve as Editor of Optometry and
Vision Science. Duties include but are not limited to chairing a nine-member
Editorial Board of topical editors who assist in the review of articles
submitted for publication. The Editor has the final say in decisions
regarding acceptance and rejection of manuscripts.
This is a part-time paid position, compensation negotiable. The applicant
should have staffing and administrative resources readily available to assist
him/her in handling the flow of manuscripts and reports among authors,
topical editors, and referees. This is in addition to services provided by
the publisher, currently Williams & Wilkins. The Editor has sole supervisory
responsibility for the editorial staff and serves as the primary interface
with the publisher.
Review of applications will begin in May and will be ongoing until a
selection is made, probably by the fall of 1995. It is contemplated that
there will be an overlap period of January through June 1996 during which the
editor-designate will work with William M. Lyle, OD, PhD, FAAO, the retiring
Editor. The new Editor will serve in his/her own right beginning July 1,
1996, for a five-year term, potentially renewable once.
