Research Position beginning 1 Nov 95
A research position in normal human psychophysics with an emphasis
on computational visual perception is available at the Naval
Postgraduate School, Monterey CA. Its duration will be for 1
year, renewable to 3 years.
The Naval Postgraduate School was nominated for an Advanced
Technology Demonstration (ATD) beginning FY97-FY99. The goal of this
ATD will replace existing night vision goggle and forward looking
infrared technology with a proposed new night vision sensor
fusion technology. This proposed technology will be a quantum leap
forward in performance capability and have a wide range applications
within the military and civilian markets.
Applications are invited from candidates to develop a small group of
visual performance tests that will comprehensively measure
visual perception and thus provide a metric for comparing between the
old technology versus the proposed technology. The applicant will
work closely with other government and civilian laboratories.
The applicant should have a firm background in C programming, UNIX,
Sun SPARCstations, and image algorithm development. The work will
require extensive programming and development of image algorithms
to improve output performance.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen. Please send curriculum
vitae, research experience, relevant reprints pertaining to this topic,
and three reference names.
