INVITATION TO BROWSE THE AAO WEBSERVER
The annual meeting of the AAO is being held in New Orleans
from Thursday, December 7, through Monday, December 11, 1995.
This year, the AAO has its own webserver at the following location:
http://research.opt.indiana.edu/aaohome.html
Services available immediately:
1) an AAO "HomePage" containing membership information, including
how and why to join the AAO
2) news and announcements
3) the latest call for abstracts, with complete instructions
for US Mail and electronic submissions
4) links to other webservers located in the city hosting the
annual meeting
5) a searchable database of the scientific program; users can
search by author, title, topic, date and time, or keyword
6) the current program book, available as an online electronic
document as well as a downloadable file
Services available soon:
1) a cumulative index to Optometry and Vision Science covering
the years 1968-1993
2) an interactive map of the conference site of the Annual Meeting
3) the creation of a new way to submit abstracts for the Annual
Meeting using a pre-defined form that can be accessed,
completed, and submitted via the World Wide Web.
You can search for abstracts by title, author, topic code, or day
and time. For each record matching your search criterion, the
full title, author, topic, day/time, and location are returned,
sorted by day and time, along with the option to view the text
of the corresponding abstracts.
In order to use the database, you must have a client program
capable of communicating with a WorldWideWeb server. An
excellent client called Netscape is available via ftp for
all common computers at
http://home.mcom.com/home/welcome.html
