I am an optometrist, practising in Auckland, New Zealand.
I have for some time been doing my best to interest the Land
Transport Safety Authority, which advises the New Zealand government
on matters related to drivers'vision, and which is presently carrying
out a complete review of legislation on driving matters, in
tightening up on minimum standards for drivers'vision.
The Authority feels that it is not necessary to give particular
consideration to my representations because it appears that there is
nowhere any research which substantially links road accidents to poor
vision or to reduced visual fields.
Therefore, I need to come up with all information that I am able to
trace on this matter urgently, in order to have some attention given
to my case.
Are you please able to assist me in this way, or can you please
advise whom I might contact in order to have as thorough a search as
possible to be carried out?
