PROGRAMMER/BIOMEDICAL ENGINEER WANTED
FOR VISION/EYE RESEARCH LABS
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF OTTTAWA EYE INSTITUTE
OTTAWA, CANADA

The Clinical Vision Assessment Laboratory and the Eye Research Labs
at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute in Ottawa, Canada have
an opening for a full-time applications programmer or biomedical engineer
with programming experience.
We undertake a variety of research in and around vision, optics,
confocal microscopy, molecular and cellular biology as well as more
directly applicable forms of ophthalmic research. Much of the research
is conducted using specialized, computer-controlled test and measurement
devices; some of which are designed and developed within the institute.
Custom software is used to control instrumentation and to collect and
analyzed the data. We are seeking a programmer to develop, modify and
maintain the various forms of software we use.
This is a professionally and technically challenging position
with diverse duties. The right person will be independent,
creative, interested in the development of biomedical technology and able
to act as the Institute's liason with the MIS department of the hospital.
Applicants should be comfortable working with both MACs and PCs.
UNIX experience/knowledge would be an asset. Experience in the following
areas is important:
C and C++ programming
digital image acquisition, storage, processing/analysis
object-oriented analysis and development techniques
4GL knowledge/experience, preferably with 4D
numerical/statistical analysis
graphical representation of data/images
knowledge/experience in programming instrumentation

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
