There is a strong possibility of a post-doc position in colour science being
available at the National Research Council of Canada in Ottawa starting
almost immediately. It would be a two-year position at a salary of
CDN$35000. The starting date could be delayed a few months but the ending
date cannot be changed (i.e it must be two years from now). To qualify,

Project description:
We are interested in developing new colour difference formulae based on
physiologically significant colour axes derived from cone responses.
Using
computer controlled CRT visual colorimeters we are currently
investigating
colour discrimination thresholds along such axes. Our investigations
have
shown that we require 12 bit/channel colour resolution as well as new
testing
paradigms to improve the reliability and resolution of our results.
The post-doctoral fellow will be involved in the development of a 12
bits/channel
CRT visual colorimeter. The fellow will also be asked to develop new
testing
paradigms to improve the repeatability of the threshold measurements.
It will
also be his/her responsibility to design and conduct experiments which
will help
identify physiologically significant axes which could be used as the
bases for a
simpler and more accurate colour difference equation.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in colour science/vision or related field is essential.
Experience in
psychophysical testing procedures using video displays is strongly
suggested.
Working knowledge of CRT display calibration, visual C programming, and
of
the Venus Visual Stimulator would be an asset.
Preference will be given to Canadian applicants.
