UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
McDONNELL-PEW CENTRE FOR COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE

RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

The McDonnell-Pew Program in Cognitive Neuroscience, based in the USA, has
funded a Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience at Oxford, which has
established new links between groups working on many aspects of brain
research relevant to cognition. The Centre embraces a wide range of
research on experimental, theoretical and clinical studies of perceptual
analysis, memory, language, and motor control, including philosophical
approaches to cognition.=20

The Centre invites applications for Research Fellowships on the RSIA scale
(postdoctoral: =9C14,317 to =9C21,519 per annum) or the RS1B scale
(pre-doctoral: =9C14,317 to =9C18,294 per annum), depending on age and
experience. The duration of the appointments will be for up to two years.=
=20

Applications are welcome from candidates with interests in any area of
cognitive neuroscience. On this occasion applications are particularly
sought in any of the following areas of research: visual neuropsychology
of attention and/or face recognition, simultaneous recording from multiple
neurons, genetics of mammalian behaviour patterns. Prospective applicants
are encouraged to develop proposals in conjunction with senior members of
the Research Centre, a list of whom is available from Miss Lesley Court
(tel: +44 1865 272497; email: lesley.court@psy.ox.ac.uk).=20

Applications should include a full curriculum vitae and a brief statement
of research interests. Applications should be sent, together with the
names and addresses of two referees, by 1 February 1996 to: The Assistant
Administrator, University Laboratory of Physiology, Parks Road, Oxford,
OX1 3PT.=20

Further information can be obtained from Dr Andrew Parker, Acting
Director, McDonnell-Pew Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience, at the same
address (tel: +44 1865 272504; email: ajp@physiol.ox.ac.uk) or Dr Edmund
Rolls, Department of Experimental Psychology (tel: +44 1865 271348;=20
