This is a second call for abstracts for the Enoch Vision Science Meeting to be
held at the Berkeley campus of the University of California from April
28-30, 1996. The meeting is being held to celebrate Professor Jay M Enoch's
contributions to the field of Vision Science, Optometry and Ophthalmology.
This international meeting will present the work of Jay's many students,
post-docs, and colleagues and hence a wide range of topics will be covered.
The symposium will consist of a 2 day scientific program (April 28,29) and
a social day (April 30; possibly a visit to the Napa wine country). There
will also be a traditional banquet to honor Jay on Sunday (April 28) and a
conference reception for the attendees at the School of Optometry, UC
Berkeley (April 27 @ 5pm). On the Monday evening (April 29) Dr. & Mrs
Enoch have invited all registrant Fest participants to their home for a
light supper following a UCB campus VISION lecture for the lay public
--jointly sponsored by NEI and the UCB School of Optometry.
Oral presentations for the two day papers session will be limited to 20
minutes each. We are currently negotiating with Lawrence Earlbaum
Publishers to produce a Festschrift volume consisting of contributed
papers.
Papers submitted for the volume should be in camera-ready format, of
reasonable length and must be submitted on floppy disks no later than June
01, 1996 to enable publication by the end of 1996. We are hopeful that
submitted abstracts will appear in a special issue of "Optometry and Vision
Science". As noted above, those wishing to present a paper and/or have it
included in the Festschrift volume should send a 100-150 word abstract by
January 15, 1996. The scientific program committee consists of Professors
Gerald Westheimer (UC Berkeley), Herbert Kaufman (LSU Eye Center),
Vasudevan "Vengu" Lakshminarayanan (U of Missouri at St. Louis) and Dr.
David Birch (Retina Foundation of the Southwest, Dallas).
The local organizing committee consists of Professor Chris Johnson (UC
Davis), Mr. Charlie Campbell (Humphrey/Zeiss Instruments), Professors Ian
Bailey and Weylin Eng and Mr. Richard Knowles (UC Berkeley).
Ms. Lois Quick (Loisq@mindseye.berkeley.edu) is the local staff contact
person in my office.
Registration and other information including symposium program will be mailed
out before February 1, 1996 with a deadline for registration of March 15,
