Please report to the Vision Community that the Psychology Department
at NU deeply regrets to inform them of the death of John C. Armington on
December 30, 1995. Prof. Armington came to Northeastern University
from the Walter Reed Army Medical Reseach Institute in 1966 to help
develop a graduate program in experimental psychology as well as
continue his own research. He maintained a large and active lab
which produced numerous investigators and large numbers of papers in
human visual electrophysiology and psychophysics. The vision
community is aware of that. They may not have appreciated how fond
his students and immediate colleagues were of him for his kind and
gentle guidance and assistance in their careers. The Department as a
whole is mourning one of its most active members and delightful
colleagues.
