Subject: Job openings in Berkeley area

Dear Hoover:

Could you post this notice that includes additional detail about several
positions that I still have available. Thank you.

JOB OPENINGS - Vision Scientists - Berkeley, California area.

I am trying to fill several positions with recently-graduated post-docs as well
as experienced vision scientists. I have received a number of applications, but
Id like to receive a few more.

I am forming a small research group (5 - 7 people) to develop a very specific
diagnostic product that will potentially benefit millions of people. We'll be
funded by a large corporation but will operate autonomously. Compensation will
include attractive salary and benefits and a potentially lucrative bonus plan.
The working environment will be relaxed and pleasant, and the work will be
focused, practical, and creative. The collegial atmosphere will be charged with
entrepreneurial spirit, combining the qualities of corporate and academic work
while leaving out most of the disadvantages of both.

We will develop a diagnostic device that uses a fast visual test to diagnose a
disease that affects retinal mechanisms.

Potential candidates need to have proficiency in one or more of the following
areas: programming, Cambridge Research Systems VSG board, visual psychophysics,
color vision, motion detection, retinal organization, visual M and P mechanisms,
spatio-temporal characteristics of retinal mechanisms, isolation of retinal
mechanisms with psychophysical tests. Background should include Visual Science
or Visual Psychophysics and either Engineering, Bioengineering, Optics or
Physics.

Interested potential candidates kindly send the following to the e-mail or fax
numbers shown below:
- a resume or vita with as much information as possible;
- a letter stating your interests in visual science, your availability, and, if
you are attending ARVO this month, three time slots when you may be available
for a one hour interview at the Placement Service, between Sunday April 21 (all
day) and Wednesday April 24 (morning);
- a reprint or reprints of relevant work published or to be published will be
appreciated.

If you cant send any of this before ARVO (some of you may be frantically
preparing for an ARVO presentation), look me up at the ARVO Placement Service.
Leave a message if Im not there.

Thank you.
