Abstract Deadline for the 1996 Annual Meeting of the
Optical Society is April 24, during ARVO week.
The meeting takes place in Rochester NY, October 20-25.
YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD:
Students and Postdocs: don't forget to apply for the
Young Investigator Award (details given below).
PROCEEDINGS PUBLICATION
Recall that contributors to the symposia that are cross-listed with the
"Optics and Imaging in the Information Age" will be offered the
opportunity to submit a written version of their presentations to be
published in a separate proceedings collection (see OSA's Call for
Papers). The Image Segmentation Symposium IS a part of this meeting
despite not being indicated as such in the Call.
Award details:
OSA will present a "Young Investigator Award" (the exact title is
yet to be determined) for the best paper or poster presented by a
student or postdoc at the Rochester Meeting. This first year, the award
is only being given in the Vision and Color Division. The prize
includes:
*Free Registration for the 1997 meeting in Long Beach
*a $100 gift certificate, redeemable for an OSA publication or
CD-ROM
*a suitable certificate of award
To be eligible, the student or postdoc must be the first (presenting)
author; the topic of the presentation must be appropriate for the Vision
and Color Division; papers and posters will be considered equally.
This first year, the candidate must submit a request to be considered
for the award in writing (email is acceptable) NO LATER THAN MAY 10
