International Research Group on Colour Vision Deficiencies (IRGCVD)
Our society was founded in 1970 under the guiding inspiration of the late
Dr. Guy Verriest. Since then we have held a Symposium every two years,
the next to take place in Ghent, Belgium in 1997. Traditionally Symposia
have dealt with normal as well as defective colour vision, despite our
society`s apparently restrictive name. The biannual Symposia Proceedings
(all papers being subject to full peer review) have appeared in the
Documenta Ophthalmologica Proceedings Series published by Kluwer. Ghent
was the venue of our inaugural Symposium in 1971 and, to mark the passing
of our 25th anniversary, Vision Research has agreed to publish the
Proceedings in a special issue. Members of the group also receive a copy
of the quarterly newsletter Daltoniana.
We have at the moment over 240 members. Our President is A. Roth (Geneva)
and General Secretary, J. D. Moreland (Keele). Every five years a
committee is elected to run the society. The following members were
recently elected for the next five year period:
J. Birch (London) J. D. Mollon (Cambridge)
C. R. Cavonius (Dortmund) J. Pokorny (Chicago)
S. J. Dain (New South Wales) L. T. Sharpe (Tuebingen)
K. Kitihara (Tokyo) H. G. Sperling (Houston)
K. Knoblauch (Lyon) E. Zrenner (Tuebingen)
