Hi everyone,
In the interest of getting together a killer retreat this year,
we thought it would be a good idea to have an organizational meeting soon.
Mark Tanouye has the honored and highly sought after position of organizing the
entire retreat, but he is more than willing to share the glory with a few
of us underlings. Any and all volunteers will be greatly appreciated - it
shouldn't take too much time and might even be FUN. I think the main
things to organize are soliciting people to present talks or posters,
the grouping of sessions, the PARTY, kayaking expeditions on the Bay?, who
will pick up the guest speaker (Antonio Damasio), etc. In line with
achieving a goal of better integration of neuroscience labs around campus,
it would be great if we could get some people from other departments to
give talks or posters.
Anyway, we were thinking of having a brief first meeting for all
interested to toss around some ideas and come up with a plan of attack.
How does the afternoon of Friday, June 21st sound? Maybe we could make this an
official "grad student reception" (for ourselves) - i.e. make it a beer
hour on the department, :). The date is fairly flexible so send me your
suggestions or exceptions for a date and time if you would like to attend.
Hope to see lots of you there!
Jennifer
