3 Research Posts in:
VISION RESEARCH : VIRTUAL REALITY SYSTEMS : TELEPRESENCE
Applications are invited for 3 research posts in the Department of
Psychology (2) and Cybernetics (1) for collaborative work on
tele-remote vision and the design of virtual environment (VE) systems.
RESEARCH FELLOW - VISION RESEARCH
Applicants should have a strong background in vision research and a
knowledge of research on motion in depth and optic flow would be
particularly welcome. Based in the Dept of Psychology, the primary
role will be empirical research into perception and control of motion
in a real-time VE setting (experimentation and modelling). Salary in
the range 14,317 - 15,986 sterling p.a.. Ref: R 9633
SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER - VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS
Applicants should should be familiar with C, UNIX and a 3D API.
Specific experience with SGI IRIX, DVS or building VEs would be an
advantage. Based in the Dept of Psychology, the primary role will be
supporting experiments on level-of-detail manipulations using an SGI +
DVS platform. Salary in the range 14,317 - 15,986 sterling p.a. A 75%
part-time basis would be considered with a salary in the range 18,985

Applicants should have experience of real-time control systems, at a
theoretical and implementational level. Additional knowledge in the
general area of robotics and vision processing would be
preferred. Based in the Dept of Cybernetics, the primary role will be
in the development and implementation of hardware solutions to support
visual telepresence. Starting salary 14,317 sterling p.a. Ref: R 9635
All three posts are available for 36 months and successful applicants
