Dear Hoover,

Please post the following notice on CVnet.

Thanks,
Nava Rubin.
-----------------------------------------

Postdoctoral Position: Visual Perception

A postdoctoral position is available starting Sept '96 in the Center for
Neural Science at New York University (CNS/NYU), to study human visual
processing. The main focus of the lab will be scene segmentation and
figure-ground perception, but candidates interested in other intermediate-level
visual processes (grouping, apparent motion, structure from motion etc.) are
also encouraged to apply.
The position will be in the lab of Dr. Nava Rubin and funded by the Sloan
Center for Theoretical Visual Neuroscience at CNS/NYU. The work will
combine experimental and theoretical approaches. Candidates are expected
to have experience in psychophysical experimentation or, alternatively, a
strong quantitative background (math/physics/comp. vision) and a commitment
to study the human visual system.
The successful candidate will enjoy freedom to work independently, combined
with the opportunity to collaborate with NYU faculty and students. The NYU
vision community includes researchers in psychophysics, primate
electrophysiology and behavior, computer vision and modeling, and is an open
and interactive environment.
Faculty include:
Paul Glimcher, Mike Hawken, Lynn Kiorpes, John Krauskopf,
Tony Movshon, Nava Rubin, Bob Shapley, Eero Simoncelli (CNS)
Mike Landy, Larry Maloney, Denis Pelli (Psychology Dept)
Davi Geiger, Bob Hummel (Computer Science)

The position is for one year, with extensions for up to three years.
Salary: $30,000 plus benefits (health etc.).
NYU housing may be available at rent below NYC market prices.

Preferred starting date is Sept '96, but the position can be held for
the qualified candidate.
