Subject: Visual memory study

Hi,

I am seeking the collective's help in tracking down the source of a
persistently recurring 'fact' about human visual memory. Can anyone
provide references for the following:

Subjects were shown a large number (1000) of photographs of real world
scenes, presented, say, one per second. A month later they were shown
another 1000 pictures, where 500 were from the previous set, and 500
were novel, and had to say (fast) which were new. Naive subjects
perform extremely well.

I would suggest that people reply to me personally by email, and not
to the list. I will summarize and post any replies received.

Best,

Daniel Glaser.
