Subject: Postdoctoral position at UCL

POSTDOCTORAL OR GRADUATE RA POSITION AT THE INSTITUTE OF OPHTHALMOLOGY,
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON.

A short-term (1 year) postdoctoral position has arisen, following the
resignation of the previous holder of the post, who has obtained a permanent
position. The post might also be suitable for a recent graduate, intending
to register for a PhD in October 1997, and seeking research experience in
the meantime. The post is open to applicants from the UK or from elsewhere
in the European Community. Unfortunately, because of the length of time
required to obtain a work permit, applicants from outside the EC are not
eligible for this short-term post. =20

The successful applicant would work with Professor Michael Morgan on a
BBSRC-funded project grant, the purpose of which is to develop
psychophysical tests of models of orientational specificity in the visual
cortex (see: Mason, A.J.S & Morgan, M.J. (1996) Orientational acuity with
stimuli designed to be matched in size and shape to oriented receptive
fields. Invest. Opthal.Vis.Sci., 37, S733.)

The salary (for a postgraduate) will be in the region of =A317,288=
(including
London Allowance).

Applications should be addressed to:
Dr M.J. Morgan
Institute of Ophthalmology
