Thanks, Karl

PhD studentship available

The German Research Council (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) is
funding a project on sensory-motor integration during grasping. This is
a joint project between the Section Visual Science, Dept.
Neuroophthalmology, at the University (M. Fahle) and the
Max-Planck-Institute for Biological Cybernetics (H. Buelthoff, K.
Gegenfurtner) in Tuebingen/Germany. Silicon Graphics workstations will
be used for stimulus generation and an Optotrak system for monitoring
hand movements. The successful applicant will perform experiments on
grasping with real and virtual objects, and on the interaction of
different visual cues for target identification.

We expect a good background in visual perception and some experience in
C-programming. Knowledge of German would be helpful but is by no means
necessary.

Salary according to German civil servant payment scale BAT IIa/2
corresponding to approximately 23.000 Deutsche Marks after tax.
Starting date is as soon as possible.

Please send applications including a curriculum vitae with the
names and addresses of two referees to:
