I was looking for an experiment similar to the one Rashbass did with pairs
of flashes, except using colour.
Essentially two flashes (or steady lights) are presented, and each flash
has a different wavelength. Several different ratios of
(intensity lambda1/intensity lamda2) are presented. The threshold for
detecting each pair is measured. The data are
plotted in a 2D plot as (thresh lambda1, thresh lambda2).
If the two wavelengths are similar, then the plot looks like an ellipse
tilted to the left. This indicates summation. If the two wavelengths say
look red and green or blue and yellow, then the plot looks like an ellipse
tilted to the right, indicating inhibition.
Please tell me who has done this experiment (and has made this plot).
It is not Guth and Lodge (1973), which was one false lead. Maybe another
Guth paper is the one.
Thanks very much for any help.
