Prof. Bulthoff's group at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biological
Cybernetics in Tubingen (Germany) has an immediate opening for a

Virtual Reality Professional

(University degree level, including Fachhochschule)

This challenging position involves providing support for the growing
group of scientists in our new Virtual Reality laboratory. We use the
latest VR technologies to study human perception, cognition and
behavior. Our current VR-environment consists of SGI graphics
workstations and an SGI InfiniteReality super computer, a 180=B0
projection screen, a bicycle and car interface and various other
peripherals and PC's connected via ethernet and dedicated serial lines.

The successful applicant will be expected to manage the many facets of
our VR-environment and provide technical support for the laboratory.
This includes installing hardware and software, calibrating devices,
programming, maintaining contacts with our system administrator and
with companies, evaluating new hardware and software solutions, and
providing the laboratory with documentation and instruction.
Depending on qualifications the candidate will also participate in or
conduct his or her own scientific research related to virtual
environments.

We are looking for a dynamic professional with a broad interest and a
good technical background. Experience with computer hardware, a good
knowledge of UNIX and C/C++, and a working knowledge of both English
and German are essential.

Salary will be according to German civil servant payment scales (up to
BAT IIa, depending on qualifications). The contract will be initially
