Optometrist for the Vision Sciences Section
Department of Physics
Minho University, Portugal
The Department of Physics of Minho University seeks qualified
candidates for one full-time teaching and research appointment in its
Vision Sciences Section. The successful candidate should hold a PhD
and be able to contribute towards undergraduate and postgraduate
teaching in optometry and to develop independent research in the area.
Teaching is expected to be in portuguese but a period of adaptation is
allowed during which english can be used.
Minho University has about 12000 students and is located in city of
Braga at 50 Km North of Porto in the outskirts of Geres National Park.
Braga, a city with the youngest population of Portugal, has to offer
an excellent climate and wide range cultural and sportive activities.
The Physics Department of the University has 50 full-time members,
teaches several courses in the University and its members do research
in several areas which include vision, non-linear optics,
optoelectronics, solid state physics, thin film technology, molecular
photophysics and thermal properties of engineering materials. The
newly created degree of Applied Optics with a specialisation in
Optometry has about 100 undergraduate and some graduate students.
