Call for Award Nominations

The Verriest Medal is bestowed by the International Research Group on Color
Vision Deficiencies (IRGCVD) to honor long-term contributions to knowledge
of color vision. The Verriest Medal was established in 1991 in memory of
Dr. Guy Verriest, and is presented biannually at the IRGCVD Annual Meeting.

Previous recipients have been Harry Sperling (1991), Marion Marr=E9 (1993)
and Vivianne Smith and Joel Pokorny (1995).

Candidates need not have been active in the affairs of the IRGCVD, but they
must be either current or former members of the IRGCVD. The past and
present membership of the IRGCVD boasts a number of individuals deserving
of such recognition, but choosing a candidate requires participation of
the membership.

Nominations for the 1997 Verriest Medal are now being solicited, through
April 1, 1997. Submitted materials should include a letter of nomination
and if possible the candidate's curriculum vitae. Please take the time to
consider and to nominate a worthy candidate for this honor.
