THE IMPORTANCE of PHASE in SPATIAL FREQUENCY ANALYSIS
There is a classic picture with four panels. The top two are two
different pictures (a face and a tank, I think) and the bottom two
have the spectra of one and the phase distribution of the other.
I have two questions:
1) Can anyone tell me where to find this, or some other version of
it, either in the literature or, perhaps better, on the web?
2) Is this a sensible and meaningful demonstration of the danger of
doing a spectral analysis without keeping careful track of the phase?
