The University of Houston College of Optometry invites applications for two
tenure-track faculty positions in the area of optics. One position is
available for a senior scientist with expertise in the field of visual optics,
the other position is for a more junior scientist. The positions require a
Ph.D. and/or an advanced clinical degree. Successful candidates will be
expected to develop and maintain a strong, independent research program
capable of attracting external grant support. The candidates will be expected
to teach geometrical and/or physical optics in the optometry and graduate

develop new courses in visual optics for our graduate program and lead a
research institute centered on the application of optics to the practice of
optometry. We are particularly interested in scientists whose work relates to
the optics of the eye and to theoretical and applied issues relevant to the
practice of optometry. Academic rank and salary will depend on qualifications
and experience. Review of applications will begin February 1, 1997.
