Post-Doctoral Research Position
University of Texas at Austin
Texture Perception and Perceptual Organization

A post-doctoral research position is available in the general area of
texture perception and perceptual organization. Our laboratory is using
psychophysical experimentation, neurophysiological modeling, and Bayesian
(ideal-observer) analysis to develop theories of texture discrimination,
texture segregation, and visual search. Our laboratory is also engaged in
an effort to develop general models of perceptual organization; that is,
how the human visual system discovers and represents the spatial and
chromatic structure in images. The models combine high-level perceptual
and computational principles with recent neurophysiological and
psychophysical models of low-level vision.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in both
psychophysics and modeling.

Salary and benefits are competitive. The start date and duration of the
appointment are flexible, although a start date of early summer 1997 and a
duration of 2-3 years would be optimal.

For further information contact geisler@psy.utexas.edu.

Applicants should send their vita, representative reprints, and two letters
of recommendation (or references) to:
