commemorate the anniversary, it was decided to hold the 1997 IRGCVD meeting
in Ghent from the 5th to the 9th of July, 1997. The meeting will take place
at the Provincial Administrative Centre "Het Zuid" in Ghent, situated
within walking distance of the major hotels.

Ghent is one of the most flamboyant historic cities of the Low
Countries.Situated in the heart of Europe it is easily accessible by car or
train. The journey time from Brussels airport is about one hour by
train.

As is usual for IRGCVD meetings, the registration fee (16,000 Belgian
francs before 2 June and 19,500 Belgian francs thereafter; 8,000
Belgian francs for students/applicants with certified limited resources)
will cover all charges to participants, the scientific programme, the
working lunches on Sunday and Tuesday, the coffee and tea breaks and the
social programme.

The social programme includes :
a welcome reception on Saturday night;
a concert in a place of historical interest on Sunday night;
a boat trip, with lunch on board, which will finish with a dinner in a
restaurant along the romantic river Leie on Monday; and
a banquet in the impressive Pand, an ancient Dominican abbey and nowadays
Faculty Club of the University of Ghent on Tuesday night.

The additional programme for accompanying persons includes a day visit to
