Research Position in Image Quality Evaluation at Hewlett Packard Laboratories
Job Functions
Essential Responsibilities: Develop and deliver image quality evaluation
methods for a wide variety of printing and display technologies. These
methods will include device modeling, simulation and evaluation as well as
image quality metrics based on a fundamental understanding of human vision.
Marginal Responsibilities: Advise and collaborate with HP colleagues on device
calibration (scanners, cameras, displays and printers), visual
psychophysical experiments, and statistical data analysis.
Skills/Knowledge Qualifications
Musts: PhD degree in visual psychophysics and experimental psychology.
Expertise and experience in development of image quality metrics, device
calibration and modeling, and empirical methods for image quality
evaluation. Familiarity with digital image processing techniques such as
digital halftoning and JPEG compression.
Desired: Masters degree in statistics or equivalent experience in statistical
data analysis. Experience in developing metrics to characterize human spatial
and chromatic sensitivity.
