Dear Hoover,
Please distribute this message on CVnet.
Many thanks,

As some of you may have seen, a translation of Hans Wallach's original
(1935) paper "On the visually perceived direction of motion" was recently
published in Perception (Vol. 25 pg. 1317-1367; translated by Wuerger,
Shapley, Rubin).
In the Introduction to the paper we offered ftp access to a Macintosh
program that simulates many of the motion effects described by Wallach.
Unfortunately, due to an unexpected bug we had to take the demo of the
air. The bug is now fixed and the program is again available by ftp (see
below). We apologize to those of you who wasted time trying to find it
when it wasn't there.
To obtain the program, use an ftp client (such as "Fetch") to connect to:
cegeste.cns.nyu.edu
using "anonymous" as the user ID and your email as the password.
Go to directory "Pub" and get the file "wallach_demo.sea".
This self-extracting archive will produce a folder "Wallach Demo" when you
double-click on it ('fetch' should automatically produce the folder for
you). Go into that folder, and follow the instructions in the ReadMe file.
(Note: do not move any of the files from that folder -- they are all
needed for the wallach_demo program to work).
Please report problems to wallach_demo@cns.nyu.edu
Enjoy!
