Subject: Rifle shooting

Dear Hoover,

This might be of interest to people researching vision and shooting.

I don't know of anybody who has undertaken research into vision and rifle
shooting. But, we've done research into pistol shooting and vision. I suspect
that vision has less of an impact on pistol shooting than might be imagined.
We can see better than we can hold our body still. It might be a different
story with prone rifle shooting (i.e. when you lie still you might be better
able to control rifle position and visual factors become more important.)
Anyway the papers below describe a couple of different experimental
appraoches (I dare say not the only ones) to vision and pistol shooting.
Rifle researchers might find them useful.
