Postdoctoral Research Position in Psychophysics at NECI
-------------------------------------------------------

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research position in
Psychophysics at the NEC Research Institute, Princeton, New
Jersey, initially for two years and beginning in September 1997
or before. The successful candidate should have a PhD and will
be expected to conduct independent, basic research in
Psychophysics. Salary depending on qualifications will be about
$40,000. Desired qualifications include research experience in
Human and Computer Vision, particularly in the areas of
perceptual organization and object recognition. The NEC Research
Institute is dedicated to basic, long term research in Computer
Science and Physics. The Vision group currently consists of
Ingemar Cox, David Jacobs, John Oliensis, Daphna Weinshall
(visiting), and postdoctoral researchers Zili Liu, Michael
Langer, and Lance Williams. Our research interests include
perceptual organization, object recognition, motion, texture,
and shading. Related research is also being carried out at NECI
on vision and learning (Steve Omohundro) and on the biophysics
of fly motion perception (Bill Bialek and Rob de Ruyter). The
NECI vision group sponsors the annual NECI Vision Workshop
intended to bring together psychophysicists, computer vision
researchers, and neuroscientists. More information can be found
at: http://www.neci.nj.nec.com/homepages/vision/index.html.
