POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AT CALTECH

A position for a postdoctoral fellow is available as part of the
Neuromorphic Engineering Center at the California Institute of
Technology to perform interdisciplinary research on the neural
mechanisms of awareness. The fellow will participate with a group of
researchers from the laboratories of Demetri Psaltis, Christof Koch,
and Richard Andersen who are examining awareness as a useful tool in
designing computer systems and important insight into understanding
brain functions. The fellow will perform recording experiments in
behaving monkeys examining neural mechanisms of awareness, access to
knowledge, and context dependent states of behavior. These
experiments will be part of a coordinated effort to understand and
design systems which use awareness to maximize efficiency. The ideal
candidate should have a willingness to be a member of a highly
interdisciplinary group and perform concrete experiments based on these
interactions. Training should consist of either a Ph.D. in the
neurosciences with a strong interest in theoretical neurobiology and
higher brain functions, or a Ph.D. in the physical sciences with an
interest in learning to perform neurobiological experiments. Please
send a CV to:
