Dear Dr Chan,
I would be grateful if you could pass on the following. Thanks, DG.
Visual stimulators, old and new.
1) We are looking for a Number Nine SGT+ board (for use with the STIM
program, written by Kaare Christian).
2) We are also considering the purchase of a new visual stimulator
system for use in experiments with voltage sensitive dyes and single
unit recording in vivo.
For these real time imaging experiments, we need fairly standard
stimuli (combinations of bars/gratings etc. in centre surround
configurations ...), but with high refresh rates, and very tight
control over onset latencies.
In addition, since the data acquisition system is already built, we
need the visual stimulator to be a slave, ie. to receive input bits
telling which (of 32) stimuli to display and exactly when.
Our two current contenders are:
Vision Research Graphics, Inc.(VRG) VisionWorks system (240 Hz).
or
Cambridge Research Systems VSG2/3 or Series Three (120 Hz).
I would be grateful for any comments other researchers might have on
these or other possible systems.
Please send replies directly to me, and I will post a summary.
Best, Daniel Glaser.
