--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Laboratory of Experimental Psychology at the University
of Leuven in Belgium, invites applications for 3 full-time
research positions for a period of 2 to 4 years, starting January
1st, 1998.

The positions are part of a research project entitled
TRANSSACCADIC OBJECT PERCEPTION IN THE
EXPLORATION OF REAL-WORLD ENVIRONMENTS,
funded by a GOA-grant from the Research Council of the
University of Leuven. The overall aim of the project is to
clarify how the informational contents of successive glimpses
of an object are integrated across eye movements. More
specifically, we intend to study the transsaccadic integration of
object viewpoint and object semantics in the context of real-
world scenes and complex motion events.

Applicants are expected to have a strong theoretical
background in visual perception and experience with
experimental design and data analysis. Successful applicants
will become part of a small research team (5-10 people) and
will have at their disposal state-of-the-art graphics software
and hardware, eye tracking equipment and a motion capture
system. Experience with this type of equipment and/or
programming skills (C++, Pascal) will be considered a plus.

Duration and salary of the positions can vary. EC-citizens who
did not held regular contracts before, can be funded as PhD-
students (bursary) and can be funded for up to 4 years at
approx. 45,000 Belgian francs per month (taxfree). Other
applicants will be funded as research collaborators with a
similar or higher salary, but for shorter periods of time.
