University Laboratory of Physiology
Postgraduate Research Assistant
Applications are invited for a one year postgraduate position funded
by the MRC to start 1 September 1997. The aim of the project is to
integrate a set of images of a scene, taken with a calibrated camera
from several vantage points, to form a single representation that
includes information about visual direction, viewing distance, local
surface slant and relative depth but which does not require the
calculation of 3-D co-ordinates (photogrammetry). Research in the
group is on neurophysiological, psychophysical and computational
aspects of 3-D vision. The post would provide suitable training for
a candidate intending to pursue vision research at a doctoral level.
Applicants should have a degree in maths, computer science,
engineering, physiology, psychology or a related area. Informal
enquiries can be made to Dr. Andrew Glennerster (01865 272555) or by
e-mail to andrew.glennerster@physiol.ox.ac.uk.
A letter of application, including curriculum vitae and the names and
addresses of two referees should be sent to the Assistant
Administrator, University Laboratory of Physiology, Parks Road, Oxford
OX1 3PT. The closing date for applications is 18 August 1997.
