POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
ASTON UNIVERSITY
Visual Psychophysics and Computational Vision Research Group
"Colour constancy under changes in illuminant and object position"
Applications are invited for a three-year appointment as a
post-doctoral research assistant to work with Professor D. H. Foster
on a BBSRC-funded project to investigate visual perception of
surface colour under changes in illuminant and object position.
Experiments will entail psychophysical measurements of visual colour
discrimination and identification and the computational modelling of
visual performance. The project will use Silicon Graphics and Sun
workstations and a custom-built, very-high-resolution colour-
graphics display system. The project is part of an established
research programme in visual psychophysics, involving a team of
about seven members working in several excellently equipped
laboratories with a range of computational and optical
display-system techniques.
Candidates should have experience of research in visual
psychophysics and colour vision, but those with training in
computing science, physics, experimental psychology and allied
disciplines are also encouraged to apply. Familiarity with unix and
C would be useful.
The appointment, available from 1 January 1998 or as soon as
possible thereafter, will be on the University Research 1A Scale
starting at up to point 6 (16,927 pounds p.a.).
