Dear Hoover,

Zili Liu recently sent a job ad to you for NECI. Could you also post
the enclosed ad, which differs in that it is specifically for human
vision?

Thanks very much,
David Jacobs

Postdoctoral Research Position in Human Vision at NECI
----------------------------------------------------------

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in
visual psychophysics at the NEC Research Institute, Princeton, New
Jersey,
initially for two years and beginning in September 1998 or before.
The successful candidate should have a PhD and will be expected to
conduct independent, basic research in Human Vision. Salary will
depend on qualifications: the minimum salary is $43,000. The
successful applicant should have a proven record of research in
computer or human vision. The NEC Research Institute is dedicated to
basic, long term research in Computer Science and Physics. The Vision
group currently consists of Ingemar Cox (on leave), David Jacobs, John
Oliensis, Jeff Siskind, and Daphna Weinshall (visiting), 5
postdoctoral researchers in computer vision and psychophysics (Zili
Liu, Michael Langer, Tao Alter, Sebastien Roy, and Richard Mann),
and a visiting researcher from NEC central research laboratory
(Akio Yamada). Our research interests include perceptual
organization, object recognition, human psychophysics, motion,
stereo, texture, and shading. Related research is also being
carried out at NECI on learning and on the biophysics of
fly motion perception (Bill Bialek and Rob de Ruyter). The NECI
vision group sponsors regular Vision Workshops intended to bring
together psychophysicists, computer vision researchers, and
neuroscientists. More information can be found at:
