Dear Hoover,

Would you kindly send out the following appeal?

Thanks,
Jack

Cement required for bonding plastic optical fibres.

The U.K. company, Permabond, make a clear, low viscosity,
optical quality resin which I have used to bond plastic
(PMMA with a fluorinated polymer cladding) fibres which
subsequently were successfully lapped and polished.

The mix (resin + hardener) has a viscosity of 300 cP and a
usable life of 40 min. The set resin's refractive index is 1.57.

I now need some more resin but the company has introduced a minimum
quantity purchase of 5 l with a cost exceeding 200 pounds UK, whereas
formerly it was possible to obtain 150 ml.

Any information on alternative sources of similar resins, available
in 100-200 ml quantities, at a reasonable price or even as a sample (!)
would be much appreciated.

The cost is too much and the potential waste (given a 1 year shelf-life)
appals me.
