THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF
MISSISSIPPI invites applications for a tenure-track position at the
assistant professor level in cognitive psychology. Any area of cognitive
psychology is acceptable, but we are particularly interested in candidates
with research interests in visual cognition, sensation and perception,
or human memory. The position involves a combination of graduate/
undergraduate teaching and research supervision. We seek candidates
who demonstrate teaching excellence and research productivity. In
addition to teaching courses in a specialty area, the successful candidate
should be able to teach courses in one or more of the following areas
(at both the graduate and undergraduate levels): sensation and perception,
research design, introductory statistics, learning, and lab courses. The
typical teaching load is two courses per semester. The department offers
doctoral degrees in experimental (concentrations in behavioral neuroscience,
cognitive and social) and clinical (APA-approved) psychology. Currently
there are 14 full-time faculty serving 60 graduate students and 300
undergraduate
majors. The University of Mississippi, founded in 1848, is the oldest doctoral
degree granting institution in the state. The University is located in Oxford,
which has been consistently ranked as one of the best small college towns
in the U.S. and which is famous for its literary heritage. Application
