Dear Dr Chan,

Would you be so kind as to post this call for applications=20
on cvnet.

Research Assistant (=93Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter/Wissenschaftliche=20
Mitarbeiterin=94.

University of Leipzig, Department of Experimental Psychology &=20
Max Planck Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, Leipzig

Prof. H. J. M=FCller, Dr. S. Pollmann and Prof. D. Y. von Cramon are curren=

=20
DFG (=93Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft=94, German Research Council)=20

nput=20
processes: an fMRI study=94.

The study is a collaborative project between the University of Leipzig=20
Department of Experimental Psychology and the Max Planck Institute of=20
Cognitive Neuroscience Leipzig. The project is concerned with the neural=20
mechanisms underlying attention shifts between visual dimensions such as=20
form, colour and motion (e.g., see Perception & Psychophysics, 1995, 57, 1-
17; Perception & Psychophysics, 1996, 58, 88-101). The study involves a=20
series of fMRI experiments, using a 3T magnetic resonance tomography=20
system. Thorough training in fMRI research and the analysis of fMRI data wi=
ll=20
be provided. Applicants must have completed a German university =93Diplom=
=94=20
degree or an equivalent non-German (e.g., Master of Science) degree in=20
Psychology or in an other cognitive neuroscience discipline. Further,=20
applicants should be able to demonstrate an active interest in cognitive=20
neuroscience research (preferably on attention) and have experimental and=
=20
computing experience (preferably PC and UNIX work stations). Knowledge of=
=20
the German language would be an advantage (though not essential).

The position is tenable for two years in the first instance, with the possi=
bility of=20
an extension for another 2-4 years. Payment is according to the German=20
Federal Employee pay scale =93IIa BAT-O=94 (for a pre-doctoral RA, the sala=
ry is=20
50% of a post-doctoral RA position, e.g., approximately DM 25,935 per=20
annum for an unmarried RA aged 25 years). The applicant is offered the=20
opportunity to study towards a Ph.D. degree (German universities do not=20
charge tuition fees for Ph.D. studies).
