International Symposium and Workshop on Measurements of Optical
Radiation Hazards
A three-day conference focusing on measurements of optical radiati=
on
hazards is to be held in the Washington D.C. area at the National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg, MD, US=
A
from 1-3 September 1998. Attendees should include health physicis=
ts,
industrial hygienists, photobiologists, safety engineers, and ligh=
ting
engineers. The website address is:
http://lazulite.nist.gov/cie/morh/.
CONFERENCE
The conference will promote and address the need for improved,
standardized radiometric measurements of optical radiation hazards=
from ultraviolet, visible, and infrared radiation sources and
assessment of protective measures such as sunscreens, clothing, an=
d
eye protection.
INVITED KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Currently include:
D. Berger (USA)
R. Bergman (USA)

INVITATION TO CONTRIBUTE ABSTRACTS FOR POSTERS
International speakers working in various areas of Optical
Measurements and Photobiology have been invited to give keynote
lectures throughout the conference. A 150 word abstract and the
completed reply form should be submitted to the contact. Abstract=
s
without a poster presentation will be accepted for the proceedings=
with consideration to subject matter and document space availabili=
ty.
The three major conference topics are:
=B7 The Photobiological Basis for Risk Assessment - Action Spectra=
=B7 Photobiological Guidelines & Standards for Health Protection a=
nd
Product Safety
=B7 Broad-Band Measurements Needed to Apply Photobiological Guidel=
ines
and Standards
REGISTRATION
A nominal registration fee of (less than $150) will be charged.
Please fill out the reply form if you wish to submit a poster/abst=
ract
or would like further information on the conference and send it to=
