At the dept. of Experimental Ophthalmology of the University of
Tuebingen Eye Hospital a
POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
is available. The candidate will be involved in a project (Rod cone
interactions in primates) that is financed by the German Research
Council (DFG). My laboratory is working on the visual information
processing in the primate retina and lateral geniculate nucleus. Several
techniques are established including: single cell recordings in the LGN
of marmosets, psychophysics and electroretinography. We are interested
in basic visual science and its clinical implications.
The ideal candidate should be graduated in Biology or Medicine, and have
a PhD in a relevant subject. Experience with single cell recordings and
in programming of computers are highly welcomed.
The nett salary (after subtraction of taxes and social security) will be
about DM 3,800.-- per month, based on the German standard wages (BAT
IIA).
Tuebingen is a nice small town (about 70,000 citizens) in the southern
part of German with a rural environment. The next large town (Stuttgart)
is about 30 km from Tuebingen. The black forest is about 70 km to the
southwest. The neurobiology community in Tuebingen is very large and
very active, so that there is enough opportunity for lively
interactions.
