Hoover Chan,
I wonder if you might post this to CVNET.
Thanks.

I am trying to locate a used Hartinger Coincidence Refractometer
for use in
my research. The instrument is used for objectively measuring the refractive
state of the eye. This instrument was originally produced by Zeiss (aus
JENA) but is no longer on the market. I have managed to locate the final,
last remaining instrument at Zeiss in Germany but they are asking a highly
inflated price for it. I suspect that there may be several of them out there
somewhere that are not being used.
The instrument is gray in color, it is mounted on an adjustable stand about
a foot tall on a sliding base that is moved with a joystick. The instrument
and base may be on a adjustable height table. The Hartinger looks like a
rectangular telescope with an objective eye piece that the observer looks
into. A light source is projected into the eye being measured and a dial is
turned to measure the refraction. The measured refraction can then be
determined from an illuminated scale.
If anybody knows of the whereabouts of one of these instrument I would be
pleased to hear about it.
Thanks
