Dear Hoover,

Would you post the following to CVnet? Thanks,

Vincent Ferrera

I am currently evaluating several option for large screen video monitors
suitable for presenting stimuli used in visual psychophysics, neuronal
physiology and eye movements. I have found that Mitsubishi has a line of
monitors that go up to 42" diag. Beyond that, it appears that all displays
are LCD based. Both Sony and Mitsubishi make 50" LCD displays. I would
like to know if anyone has had experience with displays of either sort, and
if so, could you write a short description/evaluation addressing some of
the following issues:

Size/Spatial Resolution
Flatness/Geometrical Distortion
Gamma Linearity/Color Calibration
(Is gamma highly non-linear?)
Uniformity
(Does Color/Brightness vary across the display or over time?)
Persistence/Temporal Resolution
(Do high-contrast moving targets leave trails?)
Interference (EMF)
(Does the unit interfer with other equipment such as eye
coils?)

If you are evaluating a particular monitor, please include make and model.
Any other information is also appreciated. Send replies to:
vpf3@columbia.edu. I will sort through them and post a summary.
