POSTDOCTORAL/RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION
A position is available immediately to study the functional
significance and structural correlates of proposed parallel visual
information channels. This program's aims are to define how input
pathways engage the circuitry of primary visual cortical layers and
compartments, and discern the strategies utilized by output pathways
to support higher order visual cortical areas. Approaches include
single unit recording in both anesthetized and awake behaving
primates, optical imaging, pharmacological manipulation, light and
electron microscopic (EM) examination of circuitry using tract
tracing, immunocytochemistry and morphometry. Fellows working in this
position will have the opportunity broad training since the research
involves collaboration between several labs. Preference will be given
to candidates with experience in either EM or visual single unit
recording. A Ph.D. or MD degree is required. Salary is competitive.
