UPCOMING NEUROSCIENCE CONFERENCE

The Australian Neuroscience Society is holding its annual scientific
conference in beautiful Hobart (Tasmania, Australia) from 31 January to 3
February 1999.

There are several vision-related sessions within the conference, including
the following.

* Bill Newsome (Stanford University) is plenary lecturer, on the topic of
"Seeing motion and depth: from neural circuits to perceptual decisions".

* A symposium on "Advances in visual cortex: cells, sight, and surmise",
with speakers Ulf Eysel (Ruhr-University, Bochum), Bill Newsome (Stanford
University), Adam Sillito (Institute of Ophthalmology, London), Trichur
Vidyasagar (Australian National University).

The deadline for receipt of abstracts is 16 October 1998.
