Dear Dr Chan,

I should be grateful if the following advertisement could be posted on the
Colour and Vision Network.

Many thanks in advance, Ed Chronicle

********

2-year Postdoctoral Position: "Cortical hyperexcitability in migraine
attack genesis"

A postdoctoral researcher is sought to work on the above project, funded
for two years from January 1, 1999 by The Migraine Trust. The person
appointed will help to develop, pilot, and implement a series of
psychophysical experiments to investigate neuronal dysfunction in the
visual cortex of patients with migraine. In addition, there may be an
opportunity to work for a period in The Netherlands, using transcranial
magnetic stimulation techniques.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or have submitted a Ph.D. thesis and be
awaiting examination) in either experimental psychology, neuroscience, or
optometry & vision science. An interest in visual psychophysics is
essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a medical
environment. Familiarity with the C programming language would be a
distinct advantage, and some experience in testing medical patients is
desirable.

Starting salary will be at point 6 of the UK academic IA scale (£17,570
p.a. from October 1998).
