Dynamic Vision and the Perception of the 3D Space: a SERI-NUS-LPPA
Collaboration.

The Computer Vision Group at the Department of Electrical Engineering,
National University of Singapore (NUS), is looking for a Postdoctoral
position. The position is to study both computationally and
psychophysically the distortion of the perceived space resulting from
crude egomotion estimates. Models will also be developed to better
understand the complex perceptual change experienced by users of
optical devices such as optical correction lenses and virtual reality
helmets.

The Vision group in NUS is dedicated to fundamental research in visual
perception, especially that arising from motion and stereo. We have
strong links with Professor Yiannis Aloimonos of University of
Maryland, and Dr Valerie Cornilleau-Peres of LPPA, CNRS.
For this particular project, we will also be collaborating with the
Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI).

The successful candidate will have a strong theoretical background in
the relevant areas of Computational Vision such as motion analysis,
moving object detection, etc. He/she should have a strong interest in
biological vision and be familiar with psychophysical phenomena. The
ideal candidate will also have an ability to design psychophysical
experiments to verify the theoretical predictions. He/she should
possesses good programming skills, with proficiency in a workstation
environment.

The position is available from September 1998 and is funded for 3 years.
Salary is competitive. Please send a resume, papers, and list of references

to Dr Cheong Loong Fah, Department of Electrical Engineering, National
University of Singapore, 10 Kent Ridge Crescent, Singapore 119260.
We will begin reviewing applications for the position in August 1998.
